Karan Johar recalls recalls his mom’s whack inspired scene in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Karan Johar had a pretty easy and comfy childhood, but there was this one time when his mom, Hiroo Johar, gave him a little smack. Karan recently talked about this funny incident. He often takes inspiration from his own life for his movies, like the time in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” when a young Rohan struggled to tie his shoelaces until he was a twelve.

While chatting on Be A Man Yaar podcast, Karan recalled, “That was me in that scene… not being able to tie shoelaces is me. In fact, the only time I got a whack from my mom was because, at age 12, I couldn’t tie my shoelaces”.

The filmmaker then opened up on why he couldn’t tie his shoelaces. “You know why I couldn’t tie my shoelaces? Because I couldn’t bend, my stomach was coming in the way,” he shared and added, “It was ridiculously spoiled of me.”
