Sonam Kapoor who is easing a role of Neerja, cut her fees for “Neerja” as producers budget was lacking behind.
According to producer Atul Kasbekar it was not possible for him to make a high budget movie without the help of Sonam, as she slashed her fees so that movie can be made at nominal budget, on the other hand family of Neerja also did not asked for any fees from the maker while giving Neerja story rights. I am thankful to both Sonam and Neerja family for supporting me to make biopic on India’s pride Neerja.
Neerja is based on courageous 23 year old airhostess who laid her life protecting number of passenger from terrorist on board hijacked plan Pan Am Flight 73, this incident took place on 5th September 1986.
While interacting with media Sonam disclosed “Neerja” is very close to my heart, playing a character of Neerja made me pride, working with Atul Kasbekar was great experience.
