Priyanka Chopra called Fashion her ‘career defining’ film as it turns 15

Priyanka Chopra-starrer “Fashion”, which was previously described as a “career defining” film by the actress turned 15 on Sunday.  Along with Priyanka, the film also starred Kangana Ranaut in a pivotal role, was a game changer for Priyanka. This one was released at a time when Priyanka had six back-to-back flops at the box office. However, “Fashion” changed the trajectory of her career and also garnered her a National Film Award for Best Actress.

She recalled an earlier earlier conversation with Dax Shepherd on the Armchair Expert podcast, where she revisited the time of the film’s release. She had realized that it was essential for her to take control of her career and choose parts that had something concrete because otherwise, she would be forgotten in the male-dominated Hindi film industry. She said. “I took on a movie on my shoulders because it was necessity, which turned out to be career defining for me. I was terrified. We worked on that script for six months”.

Priyanka recalled at that time, she had a magazine cover where they had written ‘Finished’ on her face and her mother was worried for her. Speaking about “Fashion”, she said that she had collaborated with director Madhur Bhandarkar for making the film and shared that this film changed how she worked. “For the first time, I felt like I had agency in what I was doing and that really changed how I worked after that,” she said.
