The production of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming movie Police Company faced an unexpected roadblock when the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) intervened. Technicians and daily-wage workers refused to work on the set due to massive pending dues that had accumulated over a period of nearly nine years from past projects like Sarkar 3 and Officer.
The association took strict action by asking camera operators, lighting crew, and stunt fighters to stall work until the financial matter was resolved.
Facing the sudden halt on the first day of filming, the pressure mounted on the filmmaker to address the old complaints. Following the intervention, a substantial amount of over one crore rupees was cleared and transferred to the federation, allowing production to resume smoothly.
Leaders of the film body emphasized that technicians and daily-wage workers are the backbone of the industry and deserve timely compensation for their hard work. This strict action serves as a strong reminder that unions will actively protect worker rights and hold producers accountable for long-overdue payments.
