Netflix Dismisses Claims That Gandhari Script Was Stolen

Netflix has officially responded to plagiarism claims surrounding its upcoming film Gandhari, starring Taapsee Pannu. Writer Kalyan Bandi had earlier alleged that the movie’s concept was copied from a story he wrote and registered back in 2019, claiming he had previously pitched the idea to a top streaming executive.

​During the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Netflix Original Films director Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh addressed the controversy head-on. She stated that the platform takes originality and artistic attribution very seriously. However, she firmly dismissed the accusations by explaining that the pitch in question is entirely different from the version written and produced by Kanika Dhillon.

​Writer-producer Kanika Dhillon also backed these statements, denying any plagiarism and stating that she had never met the complainant. Both creators urged audiences and the media to watch the movie to see that the project is an independent and original work. Gandhari is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix.
