Fans worldwide are celebrating what would have been the 101st birthday of the legendary actor Dilip Kumar on December 11. It’s a time to remember his incredible contributions to Indian cinema. The late actor, known for his outstanding performances and timeless roles, made a lasting impact on Bollywood’s golden era. However, he once shared that he felt frustrated when he received roles that didn’t showcase his skills properly.
In a conversation with South Asia Monitor in 1995, Dilip Kumar talked about his struggles with the quality of roles he was offered. He expressed disappointment with the scripts and criticized the trend of ready-made audio cassettes replacing meaningful narratives.
A very famous interview of the legendary superstar was recalled where he had said, “I would not quite put it that way but I did get frustrated at times waiting for weeks and months for a better proposition from a literary point of view. These days people come to me with ready-made audio cassettes instead of good script, and expect to imitate that.”
