He completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Andrews Ganj, Delhi, and pursued higher education at Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, where he was actively involved in the college’s dramatics society, “The Players.” 

Banerjee began his acting career with a cameo in the film “Rang De Basanti” (2006), portraying a college student auditioning for a documentary.
