Ranbir Kapoor will play the lead role in Sanjay Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set for his upcoming release Gangubai Kathiawadi that features Alia Bhatt. He has another film in the pipeline titled Baiju Bawra. Although many leading stars, including Ranveer Singh and Hrithik Roshan were speculated to portray the lead character, but now according to the latest updates Ranbir Kapoor is finalized to play the lead in the magnum opus.

In fact, Ranbir Kapoor, made his Bollywood debut in 2007 with SLB’s film Saawariya alongside Sonam Kapoor. And now the Rockstar actor is collaborating with maverick director again for Baiju Bawra. The movie is the remake of the classic yesteryear film of the same name.

According to a source, “Ranveer and SLB were discussing to collaborate on a film, but right now that can’t happen. Bhansali will reunite with Ranbir Kapoor on this one. There are two main male leads in the film; one is of Baiju and the other of Tansen. RK will be playing Baiju’s role in the period drama. Recently, he even went to meet the filmmaker at his office where he verbally agreed to do the project. The actor’s team is now working out the modalities.”
