Vikrant Massey shines with career-best performance in 12th Fail

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s recent directorial, “12th Fail,” released on October 27, has become a significant success at the box office. Starring Vikrant Massey, the film garnered ₹0.9 crore on its 21st day, bringing its domestic nett earnings to ₹35.9 crore. This marks a career-best performance for Vikrant Massey at the box office since his debut in 2013 with “Lootera.”
Despite facing a clash with the much-anticipated Kangana Ranaut-starrer “Tejas,” which boasted a larger scale and extensive promotion, “12th Fail” overcame a slow start with a day 1 collection of ₹1.1 crore. The film, buoyed by positive word of mouth, witnessed a remarkable growth in collections, accumulating around ₹12 crore in its first week. Surprisingly, the movie sustained its momentum into the second week, a rare feat, reportedly recovering its budget of ₹20 crores (inclusive of prints and advertising costs) within just two weeks.
Adapted from Anurag Pathak’s novel, “12th Fail” narrates the inspiring true story of Manoj Kumar. The film chronicles his journey from poverty to success, depicting his remarkable achievement of clearing UPSC examinations and ultimately becoming a distinguished IPS Officer.
