“Ticket to Bollywood” came true for Barkha Sengupta,

Barkha Sengupta, pretty girl, who sizzled on the big screen with the item number ‘Ishq barse boondan boondan’ in ‘Rajneeti’, is set for a pivotal role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s big-budget venture, ‘Ram Leela‘, alongside Ranveer Singh, Richa Chadda and Deepika Padukun. Barkha is playing Kesar, has been paired opposite Abhimanyu Singh of ‘Gulaal’ fame

The actress is also excited about sporting a traditional look. Since the story deals with a Gujarati family, Barkha will be seen in heavy cotton lehengas with mirror work and silver jewellery including armlets, bracelets, nose studs, earrings, neckpieces etc. “I need to wear a dupatta on my head all the time, which is a little difficult. But Bhansali sir is very particular about the look. It has been a great learning experience so far,” she says.

Kesar is the only woman in Ranveer’s family. She is peace-loving, level-headed and sensitive. Ram aka Ranveer confides in her. They share a great rapport and understand each other well. In the first half, she comes across sweet and docile, but in the second half — after becoming a widow — she is stronger and vents her emotions even though women in the family are not expected to speak up,” says Barkha.

“I had an amazing first day. It was a difficult emotional scene. There are stories about Bhansali sir being a strict disciplinarian and that made me jittery. Ranveer, on his part, was very friendly. He did his best to make me comfortable. It is nice to work with such encouraging people.
