Throwback Tuesdays: when Sunita Rajwar sued Nawazuddin Siddiqui for defamation in his book

Today’s throwback story is about a seven years old incident when Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ex, Sunita Rajwar, accused him for defaming her in his autobiography

Sunita Rajwar, known for her role in Panchayat, took legal action against her ex-boyfriend Nawazuddin Siddiqui in 2017. The lawsuit stemmed from claims made in Siddiqui’s autobiography, “An Ordinary Life.” Sunita Rajwar accused Siddiqui of defaming her by portraying their breakup as solely motivated by his financial situation at the time.

Sunita Rajwar vehemently denied this, stating her reasons for ending the relationship were far more complex.  She further claimed the portrayal caused her emotional distress and damaged her reputation. The controversy escalated when Siddiqui initially denied referring to Sunita in the book, then later claimed it was a different woman with the same name.

This defense was refuted by Sunita Rajwar, who pointed out details in the book clearly referencing their relationship. The autobiography was eventually withdrawn from circulation. The outcome of the defamation lawsuit remains unknown.
