Throwback Tuesdays: Do You Know SRK Slammed “Copy” Claims, Defending Ra.One’s Originality

Shah Rukh Khan, known for his wit, once shut down a reporter who questioned the originality of his sci-fi film “Ra.One.” The reporter compared it to Hollywood’s “Batman Begins.”

Instead of getting defensive, Khan delivered a clever response. He said, “Ye chichori baaton ke andar gaadiye bina, picture ki achchi cheezo ko dekho (Don’t get caught up in petty talk, see the good things in the film).

“Ra.One,” released in 2011, marked Bollywood’s ambitious entry into the superhero genre. The film featured Khan as a game developer whose virtual villain comes to life in the real world. While comparisons to established superhero films were inevitable, Khan’s character arc and the film’s focus on family resonated with audiences.

This incident highlights Khan’s ability to handle criticism with grace. He didn’t shy away from acknowledging comparisons, but also encouraged viewers to focus on the film’s unique elements. “Ra.One” received mixed reviews, but its visual effects and attempt at a homegrown superhero story were praised.
