Remember when Himesh Reshammiya became a heartthrob after the success of “Aashiq Banaya Aapne” in 2005? He quickly rose to stardom and capitalized on it with his music video album, “Aap Kaa Surroor – The Album,” featuring Deepika Padukone in the song “Naam Hai Tera.” This was before her breakthrough in “Om Shanti Om.” In a beautiful white backdrop, Deepika danced alongside Himesh, but the song’s popularity overshadowed her presence. Deepika later expressed gratitude to Himesh for launching her into the industry.
During her appearance in Indian Idol, the actress once said, “I knew nothing about shooting when I was shortlisted for the music video. I never went to a film set or knew how music videos are shot. Whatever I am doing today, I have learned it while filming the music video. Thank You, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. You had faith in me when no one else had.”
Yet, creating a music video was off-limits for Deepika Padukone. Why? She succumbed to Himesh Reshammiya’s insistence. She admitted in a 2010 interview that her film debut in “Om Shanti Om” in 2007 resulted from this decision. She confessed, “I had decided I would never do two things: work in a music video and participate in Miss India. However, I accepted Himesh’s Naam Hai Tera Tera album as Himesh’s songs were a rage at the time.”
Deepika Padukone not just liked the music video but also relished collaborating with Himesh Reshammiya. Despite her sudden fame, she discussed a potential movie with him. She had said in an interview in 2010, “If I get an offer to do a film opposite Himesh Reshamiya, I will accept it.”
