A global brand has recently announced Deepika Padukone as the brand ambassador for its apparel line. The actress have been promoting the brand by doing social media as well as ad campaigns lately. Just two days back an advertisement for the same brand was released, in which the actress looks bright and breezy as she danced through it. Now there has been a controversy on this ad as it is being accused of plagiarism by a film maker.
Veteran filmmaker Sooni Taraporevala has accused the brand ad filmed on Deepika of plagiarism and intellect theft. The Yeh Ballet director has alleged that the makers of the ad have robbed her set idea from the Netflix film.
Expressing how the brand ad film maker has copied the studio set in the apparel ad filmed on Deepika. She has also alleged that the ad filmmaker have seen her film Yeh Ballet and decided to plagiarise the set completely. Her note read, “A couple of days ago @cindy_jourdain brought this @levis_in ad to my attention. I was shocked to see our Yeh Ballet dance studio set in this ad, because it was conceptualized & created out of a derelict space by Shailaja Sharma @shalzoid (our PD) from scratch and dismantled after our shoot. No such dance studio exists in Mumbai which is why we built it. Basically @nadiaeye (the director of this ad) saw Yeh Ballet and decided to plagiarize our set down to the very last detail.”
Sooni Taraporevala also made it clear that it has nothing to do with the actress. “Copycat culture in India needs to be called out and cancelled. You would think a foreign production company and director would know better. Are you so creatively bankrupt? What were you thinking? @levis_in @nadiaeye @offroadfilms @rupinsuchak @newland.tv. PS. contrary to what clickbait news headlines say, this has nothing to do with Deepika Padukone or anyone else in the cast,” the filmmaker concluded.
