The Deputy Director of NCB, K.P.S. Malhotra said yesterday that six people were nabbed on Saturday night by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a swoop on the drugs mafia in the ongoing drugs angle probe in the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. These people were identified as Karanjeet Singh Anand, Dwayne Fernandes, Sanket Patel, Ankush Anreja, Sandeep Gupta and Aftab Fateh Ansari.
They were arrested from Mumbai and Goa by NCB Mumbai Zonal Unit team led by Sameer Wankhede. All of them will be presented today before a magistrate via video conferencing, as Malhotra stated.
Some of these drug peddlers supplied drugs to SSR through his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty and others. Among the peddlers, Anand is a Mumbai-based narcotics supplier having a local distribution channel of drugs in Bollywood circles. From him, the NCB recovered charas and ganja. Fernandes is an associate of Showik and is a drug dealer based in Mumbai. He supplied drugs to Sushant indirectly. Half kilo of ganja was recovered from him and other peddlers. Gupta, who although is an auto-rikshaw driver by profession, ferried bulk quantities of weed to retail peddlers like Fernandes. Patel delivered drugs to various celebrities, while Anreja runs a food kitchen in a posh area of Mumbai and supplies weed, hash and MD to high profile clients. Ansari is operating a wholesale procurement channel of weed for Gupta who distributed it further through others in the network. Chris Costa from Goa was also apprehended by NCB and further investigation is underway, said Malhotra.
However the NCB denied the speculations of probing Bollywood personalities.
