Sikhni from South for Taapsee

Taapsee

Southern actress Taapsee Pannu may have featured in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films but she is a Delhi-based Sikh girl and David Dhavan is introducing her with the “Chashme Baddoor” remake.

The director has coined a nickname for her – Sikhni from South.

In fact, Dhawan confused Rishi Kapoor when he introduced Taapsee to him as ‘Sikhni from South’ while shooting in Goa.

“Rishi looked a little puzzled and asked Taapsee why such an unusual name, which does not sound like a Sikh name, she replied, ‘My aunt kept it’,” said a source.

When asked about it, Taapsee laughed and said: “Both Davidji and Rishi uncle are Punjabis and maybe that is why he introduced me like this, but now it is a habit for him.

“He always introduces me like this only. Davidji is very sweet and I had a blast shooting for ‘Chashme Baddoor’ and this is the perfect launch pad any one could have asked for.”

A remake of the 1981 film of the same name, the new version of “Chashme Baddoor” also stars actors Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma
