On 6 May, 2002, The well known bollywood actor Salman Khan was convicted under the murder case and was sentenced to spend 5 years in jail under a hit and run case by a Session court of Bombay. In this case, a man had been killed while 4 other persons had been wounded. This happened when Salman Khan’s Land Cruiser Toyota had run over them while they were sleeping on a pavement of a bakery shop in the Suburban Bandra. This incident had taken place on September 28, 2002. On May 8. The High Court had granted a bail to Salman and suspended his sentence period. His final disposal of appeal in opposition to conviction had also been suspended by the High Court.
Shalini Phansalkar Joshi- the Justice has allowed the actor to visit Dubai to attend an Indo-Arab Award Show of Bollywood which will be held on May 29, 2015. Niranjan Mundargi, The actor’s lawyer informed the court that Salman needs to travel to Dubai on May 27 and will return on May 30 as he has made some professional commitments. The lawyer also stated that Salman will surrender the passport in less than 12 hours of his arrival from Dubai.
As the actor is now convicted, he will have to inform Dubai’s Indian Consulate about his arrival and departure. The High court says that as Salman is ready to put up with all the term and conditions, he deserves an approval on his application and hence, he can go to Dubai because of his professional commitments. The justice, Phansalkar Joshi claimed that Salman will have to furnish his flight number and timings, his travel plans, the address of the place that he tends to stay while he is in Dubai and all his contact details including the landline numbers to the agency of investigation. Furthermore, the court has directed the actor to submit an amount of Rs. 2 Lakh as an additional security before the trial court. This amount has been submitted before he left the country.
The High Court has directed Salman to take permission from the High Court everytime he intends to leave the country. Perusing these instructions, Salman had filed an application in the High Court to seek a permission to attend the award function in Dubai.
