The Web series Aashram that streams on MX Player, has been in the headlines for all wrong reasons lately. This series featuring Bobby Deol has been facing the rage of some sections of the society for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. It is claimed that the series show scholars or saints in a bad light.
The story behind this is that the Karni Sena that wears an outfit of being true Hindus, has sent a legal notice to the director of the web series, Prakash Jha, claiming that the series has hurt Hindu sentiments. They even raised an objection on season one of the series and for the upcoming season, they demanded a ban.
Responding to all such controversies on Aashram Prakash Jha spoke up and slammed the Karni Sena by saying, “Who am I to make a judgment on their demand? We had 400 million-plus views for the first season. I think viewers are the best placed to decide on ‘negative goodwill’. Shall we leave it to them?”
This response is although subtle, but hard hitting. Now let’s see how Karni Sena reacts to this.
