Maharashtra Minister Urges ‘Chhaava’ Be Reviewed by Experts Pre-Release

Maharashtra Minister Urges Maharashtra’s Minister Uday Samant has called for the upcoming film ‘Chhaava’, starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, to be screened for experts before its official release. He emphasized the importance of ensuring historical accuracy and sensitivity in portraying the revered Maratha warrior king.

In a statement on ‘X’ formerly Twitter, Minister Samant expressed his appreciation for the filmmakers’ efforts to highlight the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. However, he noted that concerns had been raised about certain scenes in the film. He stated, “Our position is that this film should not be released without first being shown to experts and knowledgeable individuals. Anything that harms the honour of the Maharaj will not be tolerated.”

He further urged the producers and director to take immediate action to address any objectionable content. He warned that if these concerns are not resolved, the film’s release may be halted.

‘Chhaava’, directed by Laxman Utekar, is a historical drama focusing on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film also features Rashmika Mandanna and is scheduled for release on February 14.

This development follows earlier remarks by former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, who also advocated for the film to be reviewed by historians to ensure an accurate portrayal of historical events.
