This is ‘spicy yet sweet’ film. The central theme of the film, is about the hero’s quest to find the Khurana family’s secret, the recipe of the famous ‘Chicken Khurana’. The recipe is supposed to be the reason behind the family’s once successful dhaba.
Omi Khurana (Kunal Kapoor), who runs away from the family to find his purpose. But somehow, he gets embroiled with goons in London who force him to return home to collect the moolah he owes them. And this is where he finds his true purpose, when he is offered cash for stash, which is the recipe. But here’s the twist, the recipe lies with the family, How Kunal manages the whole situation and also falls in love all over again with his childhood sweetheart, is the whole idea around the movie. Anurag Kashyap and Ronnie Screwvala bring us a family entertainer which is filled with a lot of healthy masala and everything nice
It is a too slow for an audience that is used to glamourous, fast, racy movies and could do with a bit of trimming around the edges but the music, moments and endearing people remind us of the goodness of life! The story has been woven in such a way that every character has been given scope to perform and equal importance.
Huma Khureshi has donned the perfect look as a simple, countryside doctor and portrays her light hearted slice of life character effortlessly. Rajesh Sharma as Titu Mama, Vinod Nagpal as Daarji are brilliant. Dolly Ahluwalia as Buaji adds her unique touch to the character.
Music Director Amit Trivedi has hit the right notes thankfully veering away from the usual funky bhangra pop and sticking to the rustic theme of the movie.
