Keerthy Suresh Credits Samantha for ‘Baby John’ Role

Keerthy Suresh, acclaimed for her performances in South Indian cinema, recently made her Bollywood debut in “Baby John,” the Hindi adaptation of the Tamil film “Theri.” In a candid interview, Keerthy revealed that her close friend and fellow actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, played a pivotal role in securing this opportunity. Samantha, who originally portrayed the female lead in “Theri,” recommended Keerthy for the corresponding role in the Hindi remake. Keerthy expressed profound gratitude for Samantha’s support, stating, “I can’t be grateful enough for that. It’s so sweet of her to say, ‘Keerthy will be able to pull off this character.'” 

The bond between Keerthy and Samantha was previously showcased in the 2018 biographical film “Mahanati,” where Keerthy’s portrayal of legendary actress Savitri earned her the National Award for Best Actress. Samantha’s endorsement for “Baby John” not only underscores their professional camaraderie but also highlights the supportive relationships within the film industry. Keerthy further shared that Samantha’s encouragement instilled confidence in her, especially when Samantha posted on Instagram, “I wouldn’t have shared this one with anyone else, but you.” 

“Baby John,” directed by Kalees and starring Varun Dhawan, has garnered attention for its compelling narrative and performances. Keerthy’s entry into Bollywood, bolstered by Samantha’s recommendation, exemplifies the significance of mentorship and solidarity among actors. Keerthy remarked, “I couldn’t have asked for a better debut. This is one of the characters I really love, and I am so glad I got to play it in Hindi.”
