Bollywood actress turned politician Kangana Ranaut who recently won Mandi seat in 2024 Lok Sabha election her Mandi seat has been challenged for the same HC issues notice.
Petitioner approached HC filed petition stating nomination paper were wrongly rejected by returning officer Therefore he request HC to set aside election of Kangana Ranaut.
According to latest report Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, issued notice to Kangana Ranaut, the BJP Lok Sabha member from Mandi, on a petition filed by a Kinnaur resident for setting aside her election on the grounds that his nomination papers to contest from the Lok Sabha constituency were allegedly wrongly rejected.
HC Justice Jyotsna Rewal issued notice to Kangana Ranaut for filing reply on 21st August.
She won Mandi seat by defeating her rival Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes.
Petitioner Layak Ram Negi, pleaded that his nomination papers were wrongly rejected by the returning officer (Deputy Commissioner, Mandi) he is also party to case.
Layak Ram Negi is retired from forest department he said got premature retirement and produced a “no dues certificate” from the department along with nomination papers to the returning officer. Well I was given one day time to produce “no due certificate” from the electricity, water and telephone departments and when i submitted all documents on time returning officer refused to accept them and immediately rejected my nomination papers. He said if my Nomination paper had been accepted he would have won election.
