Ira Khan, who happens to be Aamir Khan’s daughter from his first wife Reena Dutt, recently took to her official Twitter handle and opened up about her mental health through a video. In the video she revealed that she is clinically depressed for the past four years. She shared the video this Saturday eve, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. Through this video she tried to broaden the discussion over mental health issues. This video of hers went viral on social media. Many of the netizens appreciated and lauded her for speaking about her depression on a public platform. Kangana Ranaut has also stepped forward and reacted on Ira’s depression video. Ahe said that it’s ‘difficult for broken families’ children.’
Kangana reacted on Ira’s video where Ira disclosed about her battle with depression and said, “At 16 I was facing physical assault, was single handedly taking care of my sister who was burnt with acid and also facing media wrath, there can be many reasons for depression but it’s generally difficult for broken families children, traditional family system is very important.”
Reena and Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira said in the video that she shared on Twitter, “Hi, I’m depressed. I have been for more than four years now. I’ve been to a doctor and I’m clinically depressed. I’m doing much better now. For over a year now, I wanted to do something for mental health, but I wasn’t sure what to do. So, I have decided to take you on a journey, my journey, and see what happens. Hopefully, we will get to know ourselves slightly better, understand mental illness better.”
She concluded the video saying, “Let’s start from where I started. What do I have to be depressed about? Who am I to be depressed? I have everything, right?”
