Legendary lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar recently addressed those who criticize the cult classic Sholay, starring Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan, suggesting it “is not great.” Akhtar—who, together with Salim Khan, co-wrote the enduring script—shared his perspective on why Sholay’s influence endures despite occasional detractors.
