Janhvi Kapoor: A Look at her 5 Shelved Projects

Janhvi Kapoor, a rising star in Bollywood, has impressed audiences with her dedication and talent. This year, she delivered a power-packed performance as a cricketer in “Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,” showcasing her willingness to take on challenging roles. However, many fans might be surprised to learn that this was her only release in 2024. 

While Janhvi has a few exciting releases lined up, several announced projects haven’t seen the light of day. Here’s a closer look at 5 projects that haven’t quite made it to the screen:

1. Karna: 

This ambitious pan-Indian film by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had generated immense buzz.  Cast as Draupadi opposite Tamil superstar Suriya, Janhvi was poised for a powerful role.  Reports suggest the project, which boasted a budget of ₹350 crore, has been shelved after pre-production work began.

1. Takht:  

Another project facing an uncertain future is Karan Johar’s historical drama “Takht.”  Announced in 2018, the film boasted a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and of course, Janhvi Kapoor.  While the film was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there haven’t been any concrete updates since 2021.  With no signs of production starting, many believe “Takht” may be shelved.

3. Rambo Remake:  

Fans were excited to see Janhvi step into an action role opposite Tiger Shroff in the much-anticipated remake of the Hollywood classic “Rambo.”  However, rumors suggest the project has been scrapped, possibly due to Tiger Shroff’s recent string of box office flops,

4. Dostana 2:  

This sequel to the popular 2008 film “Dostana” faced several hurdles.  Starring Janhvi Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, and Lakshya, the film began production but was ultimately shelved due to creative differences between Kartik Aaryan and director Karan Johar.

5. Spider:  

A glimmer of hope remains for the thriller titled “Spider.”  News emerged last year about Janhvi starring alongside Sidharth Malhotra in this project backed by Dinesh Vijan.  While details remain unclear and there have been rumors of the project being shelved, there hasn’t been official confirmation. 

Despite these setbacks, Janhvi’s upcoming releases showcase her determination to explore diverse genres and languages. Some of her Upcoming Films include:

• Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari: 

Directed by the renowned Karan Johar, this upcoming film promises a lighthearted and entertaining experience. Janhvi is paired with Varun Dhawan in a love story titled “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” slated for release in April 2025.

• Ulajh: 

Expanding her repertoire, Janhvi takes on a suspenseful thriller with “Ulajh” releasing in August 2024. Details surrounding the plot are under wraps, but with its imminent release, anticipation is building for this new genre exploration.

• Devara: Part 1: 

Marking a significant milestone, Janhvi makes her Telugu debut in “Devara: Part 1.” This period drama, releasing in September 2024, sees her play a village girl named “Thangam” opposite the leading Telugu actor Junior NTR.
