Get to know 2003’s Penthouse Pet of the Year

She just turned 34 years old last May 13. Named as 2003’s Penthouse Pet of the Year, Karenjit Kaur Vohra was already making a name for herself even before becoming a big star in her native India. Although born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada to a Tibetan father and her mother who’s from Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh, Karenjit, popularly known as Sunny Leone, has travelled from Canada to Michigan in the United States, and then to California, so the whole family can be together as requested by her grandparents. Currently staying in Dombivali, Thane, Mumbai with her husband, she recently recorded a statement in the cybercrime cell of the Thane Police Station to answer a complaint of vulgarity filed against her by a neighbor.

Family First 

Her family is Sikh in ethnicity yet she was enrolled in a Catholic school as a student because her family felt it was dangerous for her to attend public school. Sunny’s family supports her career and her future plans, because her happiness is important to them. From an interview she said, “My family loves me and accepts me for who I am. No parent can stop loving his child. I am daddy’s little girl in his eyes. Of course, they don’t want me to continue [in pornography], but I tell them my plans, what I am doing and, most importantly, I tell them I am happy and that’s what they want most.” 

Her husband’s name is Daniel Weber who she married in the year 2011. A baby is still in the works, she wants one she says, with her husband of course, but not in the near future. She assures that soon it will happen because she loves babies. 

Sunny’s Career 

Her first working experiences were as a waitress in a German bakery, after thatshe worked in a Jiffy Lube, and later on in a tax and retirement firm. 

While studying nursing, a classmate of hers who was an exotic dancer by profession, introduced Sunny to John Stevens, an agent who in turn introduced her to a Penthouse magazine photographer named Jay Allen. For her adult/porn career, she was given the screen name Sunny Leone because she said her first name was Sunny and the Leone was suggested by Bob Guccione, former owner of Penthouse magazine. Aside from appearing in Penthouse, she also became a model for various photoshoots with other magazines like Cheri, Mystique Magazine, High Society, Swank, AVN Online, Leg World, Club International and Lowrider.

In 2003, she started her porn video career appearing in Penthouse Pets in Paradise and it was all uphill for her career since then, landing roles in various big shot porn films which even landed her an AVN award, the Oscars of porn video. Her upcoming projects include filming alongside TanujVirwani for Jasmine D’souza’s One Night Stand. She has reportedly been signed to be featured in an extended cameo role for the film Luv U Alia. She is bisexual though and she prefers to star in lesbian roles in her porn films.
