Farhan Akhtar will play the key role in Rakesh Sharma’s biopic

After playing Milkha Singh, Farhan Akhtar is seemingly chosen to play  the role of Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to step on the moon, in his biopic. The news of this was around the corner for the past few years.  Many actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and even Vicky Kaushal were considered for the project. But now the makers of the film have finally decided that Farhan is perfect for the role.

According to the report of a source, “After a lot of brainstorming, the team zeroed in on Farhan as he played athlete Milkha Singh to perfection in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Talks are on and after finishing his current commitments, he is expected to jump into the prep, which includes body transformation, physical training and understanding the nuances of an astronaut.”

Further the report said, “The script with the dialogue draft is locked. With the lead actor on board now, they will proceed towards getting together an ensemble cast and then work on the timeline of the shoot.”

As part of a Soviet Interkosmos mission in 1984, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma flew on a Soyuz spacecraft. He had a very daring flight back then and he proudly stepped on the moon. On being asked how India looked from outer space, by the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, the cosmonaut uttered “Saare Jahaan Se Acha”.
