Diljit Dosanjh will be featured in Ali Abbas Zafar’s next production based on ‘84 riots

The story of his next production is based on the 1984 riots in India, which were triggered by the assassination of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her two Sikh bodyguards.

According to one of the close sources, “Ali has always been attracted to Indian history, both Gunday and Bharat grew from the past. He wanted to make a film around the ’84 riots for a while now and has finally found a subject that has him charged up. Besides producing the period-drama, he is also creatively involved with the script.”

The source continued to tell about the filmmaker’s talks with Diljit Dosanjh to play the lead, “Ali and the team believe he is best suited to play the character and will bring in some local flavor too. Diljit has agreed verbally with a final narration scheduled in a few months. The idea is to roll as soon as normalcy returns”

Diljit Dosanjh has already starred in the Punjabi movie Punjab 1984 , which was a period drama based on the 1984 riots. This 2014 movie directed by Anurag Singh won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi. It must be one of the reasons why Ali wants Diljit in his movie.
