Along with actress Kangana Ranaut, Apoorva Mehta, who is the CEO of Dharma Productions, the production house of Karan Johar was summoned by Mumbai Police in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Within a couple of days, Mahesh Bhatt will also be summoned for the same. Maharashtra’s Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh, made this announcement on Sunday afternoon. According to a media report, Deshmukh said “In one or two days Mahesh Bhatt’s statement will be taken. Then under CrPC Kangana Ranaut has also been summoned. Whoever is needed we will summon,”
When asked if Karan Johar himself would be called, the minister replied: “Karan Johar’s manager has been summoned, and if needed we will summon Karan Johar as well.” However, a news report verified that Apoorva Mehta, CEO of Johar’s production house, was recently called in SSR’s suicidal case.
Mumbai police recorded the statement of Karan’s manager, Reshma Shetty, earlier, reacting to which Team Kangna Ranaut tweeted: “So Karan Johar’s manager is summoned but not @AUThackeray’s best friend @karanjohar!! @MumbaiPolice stop making a joke out of SSR murder investigations.”
Another tweet on this account reads: “How can @MumbaiPolice display blatantly shameless nepotism even in issuing summons? Kangana has been issued summon not her manager but Chief Minister’s son’s best friend’s manager is called for questioning, why? saheb ko pareshani na ho issliye (is it to ensure that sir is not inconvenienced)?”
