Bollywood Superstar Rekha was born on 10th October in Telugu Speaking family, her birth name is Bhanurekha. Her parents were popular stars her father Gemini was popular actor of tamil and her mother Pushpavalli was well known Telgu Actress. Rekha has seven sister and one brother. As in the bigning of her career wo Bhanurekha worked in Telugu movie ‘Rangula Ratnam’ and that time she was baby and she worked with her mother in 1966, later on this movie was re-made and released in 1976 as Rangila Ratan. Therefore Rekha worked in one more Telugu and Kannada movie(Amma Kosam and Goadalli)
Due to her upbringing Rekha used to look very gloomy and pessimistic during her starting years. Rekha got her first break in bollywood movies during 1970 in Sawan Bhadon in this movie she acted opposite Navin Nishcal with a Screen name of Rekha due to the inability of speaking Hindi Language and having dark complexion and being overweight made her lack in the bollywood film industry. Therefore Rekha decided to lose weight therefore she joined Yoga, and joined Hindi Speaking classes as well as dancing classes. By dedication she came out as new born star and started delivering box office blockbusters such Nagin (1976), Muqaddar Ka Sikandar in (1978), Mr. Natwarlal in (1979), Khubsoorat (1980), Umrao Jaan (1981), Khoon Bhari Maang(1988) and many more.
During the 80’s Rekha name was attached with Amitabh Bachchan due to this whole bollywood went in to shock, later on Rekha, Amitab and Jaya Bhaduri were starred in movie Silsila in 1981, and the story of this movie was based on topic of a married man in love with woman other than his wife.
During 1979-81 Rekha was one the second highest paid actress of bollywood and she was also one of the 1st highest paid during the period of 1982-84 and later from 1987-92 she was the 3rd highest paid actress of the bollywood industry.
Rekha did controversial movie Kama Sutra A Tale of Love in 1996, in this movie she played a role of Kama Sutra teacher, therefore number of her fans thought that it would end her film carrer.
In 2006 Rekha appeared in movie Krrish in this move she did a role of mother and also a role of grandmother. After winning the Stardust Role Model Award in 2006 she said I promise that I will keep on entertaining my fans till I am alive.
Due to Rekha popularity, glamour’s look and body figure she got number of admirer in her carries including Jeetendra, Vinod Mehra, Kiran Kumar, Amitab Bachan, Rekha got married with Vinod and ended up with divorce, on the other hand she also ended up getting married with well know businessman Mukesh Aggrawal, as married resulted into divorce.
Rekha have many hobbies such as surfing internet, collecting old photographs, postcards, practicing yoga, watching movies and she also like reading comic books such as Archie, Denis the Menance, these days she is staying with her Secretary Farzana and pets in her self-owned bungalow at Bandra (West) in Mumbai
