Hema maliniBollywood Superstar Actress  Hema Malini was born on 16th October 1948 in Tamil Family at Ammankudi Tamil Nadu. Her father name is V.S.R. Chakravarthy and her mother’s name is Jaya and she was film producer. Hema Malini has two brothers. Though she was not interested in academic but anyhow she enjoyed history as it was her favorite subject during her academic years. She did her studies at Andhra Mahila Sabha situated in Chennai, she studied at DTEA Mandir Marg till 10th class and left her studies in between and did not complete 10th as she got acting role. Hema Malini did her first performance as dancer in regional movie in 1961, as she was rejected by Tamil Director C.V. Sridhar during 1964 when she first tried to act, she was rejected on the grounds that she was too slim to be heroine in Venniradai therefore role went to Venniradai Nirmal. She performed her first song Singara Therukku Selai which was sung by Seergazhi Govindrajan and L.R Eshwari did a supporting actor role in movie Idhu Sathiyam in 1963 a Tamil movie starring S.A.Asokan as the hero. When Hema got her first debut opposite Raj Kapoor in movie Sapno Ka Saudagar  director Sridhar was proved wrong who once rejected her for slim figure.

Number of bollywood superstars such as Sanjeev Kumar and Jeetendra proposed to Hema Malini described in her authorized biography further she mentions that she almost accepted Jeetendra proposal but later backed out. Due to rejection however Sanjeev kumar fell into alcoholism and remained unmarried till death and passed away in 1985.

Hema Malini fell in love with bollywood superstar Dharmendra during the shooting of Sholay and eventually she got married with Dharmendra in 1980. For getting married both of them converted their religion into Islam. As Dharmendra was married to Parkash Kaur and she refused to give divorce to him. Hema and Dharmendra both appeared together in movie like Seeta Aur Geeta, Dreamgirl, Charas and Burning Train. After her marriage Hema became Step mother of Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. From her wedlock  she has two daughters Esha Doel and Ahana Deol and they both are well trained Bharatnatyam artists like their mother Hema .

Hema’s movie Johnny Mera Naam which was released in 1970 became a blockbuster hit.  Hema Malini started accepting challenging roles which most of the heroines refused to do. Hema played a role of young widow in movie Andaaz (1971), she played a negative character in movie Lal Pathar (1971). Same year she did a double role with Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar in movie Seeta Aur Geeta and this movie did a great business this movie got her achieve her first Filmfare Best Actress Award with in her 4 years debut in bollywood.

Number of movies released during 1975 were highly successful such as Dharmatma, Sholay, Pratigya, Sanyasi. Sholay became a box office hit in this movie she played a role of Basanti which is popular till date. Hema Malini however also achieved number strong dramatic movements in movies like Trihsul, Joshila and Khushboo. Hema also acted in Female focused movies such as Kinara (1977), Meera(1979), directed by Gulzar.

After her marriage with Dharmendra she continued to work in movie such as Kranti, Naseeb, Satte Pe Satta and RAjput.  After marriage both Dharmendra and Hema were star casted in movie’s Alibaba Aur Chalis Chor, Baghavat, Samraat and Razia Sultan. Her role in movie Andha Kanoon was appreciated by audience in which she played a role of police inspector in this movie she did a role of sister of Rajinikanth a Tamil movie star.

Hema’s on screen pairing with Rajesh Khanna was very popular as they appeared in number of box-office hits such as Andaaz, Bandish, Prem Nagar, Mehbooba and Kudrat. She also became a part of hit multi-casting movies such as Raaj Tilk and Baghavat in these movies she acted opposite Dharmendra. She did great role in movies like Aandhi Toofan, Durgaa and Ramkali released in 1985, Sitapur ki Geeta in 1987, she also did action oriented role in movies like Ek Chaddar Mali Si (1986), Jamai Raja and Rihaee in 1990.

Hema Malini also tried hand in direction however her first directorial movie Dil Aashna Hai went flop therefore she felt that her career is conical of therefore she started focusing on her dance commitments and television serials

After taking a long acting break from movies Hema Malini made her comeback with movie Baghban in this movie she acted opposite Amitabh Bachachan in this movie Amitabh played as her husband and therefore her role earned her a Filmfare Best Actress Award nomination. She also acted in movie Veer Zaara which was released in 2004. In 2011, she again started her directorial venture that  in this movies she casted her daughter Esha Deol in movie Tell Me O Khuda.

In 2004 Hema Malini joined BJP officially. And in 2011 she was made general Secretary of the BJP.
