Amitab bachchanBollywood Superstar Amitab Bachchan was born on 11th October 1942 in Allahabad, his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was well known Hindi Poet and his mother Teji Bachchan was from sikh family. Amitab Bachchan was firstly named Inquilaab, motivated from the slogan which became famous during the period of Indian Independence fight, Inquilab Zindabad. But latter associate poet of his father Sumitranandan Pant recommended his father to change his name to Amitab. Though his last name was Shrivastava but as his father had take up the pen-name Bachchan under which he used to publish his poetry therefore he kept his name Amitab Bachchan. Amitab Bachchan did his schooling from Sherwood Collage Nainital and later on pursued a degree in science from Delhi University.  On 3rd June 1973 tied a wed-lock with Jaya from there wed-lock they have two kids Abhishek Bachchan, Daughter Shewta .Amitab Bachchan is elder to his two brothers.

Amitab Bachchan made his first appearance in 1969 where he worked as storyteller for Mrinal Sen’s Movie Bhuvan Shome and this movie worn National Award. After that he got his first break in movie Saat Hindustani and this movie was directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas though this movie was not hit but Amitab Bachchan won his first award as Best Newcomer.

In 1971 Amitab Bachchan did movie Anand with Rajesh Khanna, in this movie Amitab played a role of doctor and for his role he got his first film fare best supporting actor award. Later he played a negative role as a obsessed lover turned-murderer in movie Parwaana which was released in 1971. Later he did number of movies such as Reshma Aur Shera in 1971, Amitab Bachchan also did guest appearance in movie Guddi and in this movie his future Wife Jaya Bhaduri acted. In movie Bombay to Goa he also appeared as guest artist.

In 1973 Director Parkash Mehra casted Amitab Bachchan in a primary role for his movie Zanjeer in which he played a  role of Inspector Vijay Khanna and this movie was based on romantically which established Amitab in new facade as ‘Angry Young Man’ of bollywood. And this movie created history as this movie was highest grossing movies of that year, thereby breaking Amitab’s dry spell at the box office by making him super star. And he earned his first film fare nomination as best actor for zanjeer. In 1973 tied a wed-lock with Jaya and around this period he appeared in number of movies with Jaya. After his marriage Amitab Bachchan appeared in Abhimaan and this movie was too successful at the box office.

Later on in 1974 Amitab Bachchan made number of guest appearance in movies for instance Kumwara Baap and Dost, and he did a supporting role in movie Roti Kapda Aur Makan and this movie was directed and written by Manoj Kumar. In 1975 Amitab did Sholay with Dharmendra and this movie became highest grossing movie of 1975 earning about $ 60 million.

Later on Amitab Bachchan starred in number of comedies such as Chupke Chupke, Amar Akbar Anthony.  After the success of movie Deewar Yash Chopra again signed him for movie Kabhi Kabhi this movie was based on Romantich tale in which Amitab played a role of young poet Amit Malhotra who falls in love with a beautiful young girl Pooja and this character was played by Raakhee therefore this movie was notable for portraying Amitab as a romantic hero.  In 1977 Amitab again won Filmfare Best Actor Award  for his performance in movie Amar Akbar Anthony. Same year his other successes were Parvarish, Khoon Pasina and Adalat. Amitab Bachchan did double role in movies Kasme Vaade and Don. Therefore his performance won him his second filmfare best actor award.

In 1979 Amitab Bachchan got another success in movie Suhaag as this movie was highest grossing movie of that year. Same year Amitab gained Success with movies such as Mr. Natwarlal and Kaala Pathar. In 1980 Amitab Once again nominated for Raj Khosla directed movie Dostana, therefore dostana proved to be the highest grossing movie of 1980. In 1981 Yash Chopra again casted Amitab in movie Silsila in which he starred alongside his wife Jaya and Rekha. Other successful movies of Amitab were Ram Balram, Shaan, Lawaaris and Shakti.

But it was a shocking moment when acting in movie Coolie on 26th July Amitab Bachchan Suffered fatal Intestinal Injury during the filming of fight scene with co-actor Puneet Issar, as Amitab was performing this stunt in the movie where he was required to fall onto to table and then on the ground. But unlucky he landed on the corner of table which struck his abdomen resulting into a splenic rupture due to which he lost numerous amount of blood. Therefore he was on emergency splenectomy and was in ctircal condition for several months he was very much close to death that time during this period of time public came forward and started doing prayers in temples people and offered to sacrifice limbs to save him, while later on long queues of well wishers were seen outside hospital where Amitab Bachchan was recuperating. After few days Amitab started recovering and resumed for acting later that year after a long period of recuperation. The movie was released in 1983 and this movie came out as a top grossing movie of the year. Therefore director Manmohan Desai changed the ending of Coolie after Bachchan’s accident. Bachchan’s character was originally intended to have been killed off but after the change of script, the character lived in the end. It would have been wrong if the man who had fought the death and came alive in real life to be shown killed on screen.

In 1984 Amitab Bachchan went on break from acting and entered into politics with his long time family friend Rajiv Gandhi. Therefore he contested on Allahabad Seat for 8th Lok Sabha Elections and he won the seat of Allahabad defeating H.N Bhuguna and came out as a highest victory margins in general election body by gaining 68.2 % votes. Though his political career was short lived as he resigned after three years, calling a  cesspool. Lately Amitab and his brother faced allegations on Bofors Scandal, though he was not found guilty by court and came out of the allegation with clean chit from the court.

When Amitab’s ABCL company failed and he went into financial crises then Amar Singh came forward and helped Amitab. Then onward Amitab started supporting Amar Singh’s political party. Later on Amitab’s wife Jaya Bachchan joined the Samajwadi Party and therefore became Rajya Sabha Member.

Amitab Bachchan once again returned to Bollywood in 1988 in with movie Shahenshan and this movie again gather famed for Amitab as this movie came out as a box office success. But later his success began to fade his movie were not doing well. But in 1991 once again Amitab Bachchan won filmfare best actor award for movie Hum but unluckily the  momentum was short termed as his string of floops continued. Though he was going through sting of floops, it was during this period that be won his first National Film Award For Best Actor for his remarkable performance in movie Agneepath in which he played a role of Mafia don. Later on after the release of Khuda Gawah Amitab went to Semi- retirement for a period of five years.

Amitab Bachchan once again appeared in 2000 in the movie Mohabbatein and this movie was directed under the banner of Yash Chopra. in 2001 Amitab appeared in Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham and 2003 he appeared in Bhagban

In 2007 Amitab Bachchan acting in Cheeni Kum and Shootout at Lokhandwala. Shootout at Lokandwala did good business at box office. But movie cheeni kum did an average business.

In 2000 Amitab Bachchan Appeared on TV show Kaun Banegaa Crorepati (Who Wants to be a Millionaire).

In 2012 London Olympics Amitab Bachchan Carried Olympich Tourch.

At the age 70 Plus Amitab is unstoppable and getting popular day by day.
