The brilliant performances by all stars and the very heartwarming direction by Anurag Basu have worked as the film’s major USP. The reviews have been unanimously positive and the word of mouth is so good that audiences have thronged to theatres in large numbers and the film has seen a steady growth in business at the box-office over the weekend. First weekend collections are estimated at around Rs 34 crores which is an excellent initial for the film.
Anurag Basu’s new movie, Barfi! has generated a lot of hype in the last few weeks with a unique story line about a deaf & mute boy and an autistic girl played by and respectively.
Actress Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz, also have delivered excellent performances as an autistic girl, and a rich Bengali girl, respectively.
The film, made at a budget of Rs 30 crore, talks about love beyond language and disability. With this theme, it managed to mint Rs 9.20 crore on its opening day, Rs 11.50 crore on the second day and Rs 13.5 crore Sunday.
In the overseas market, ‘Barfi!’ crossed the Rs 2 million-mark over the weekend, making it Ranbir’s highest grosser overseas, ahead of ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Rockstar’.
