The chairman of prestigious Olympic Organizing Committee, Lord Sebastian Coe sends an invitation to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay tomorrow as the flame passes through London, on its final journey into the Stadium for the Opening Ceremony, London Olympics 2012.”
The 32.7 mile relay would have legendary personalities from all over the world and all walks of life, including Phil Packer, Tom Davis, Darren Fitzpatrick and Jim Anderson etc.
The opening ceremony is to be held Friday. The Olympic flame was all set to visit iconic landmarks all over the London city. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan will carry the Olympic torch at London, a day before the opening ceremony of the games.
In this mega gaming event, Amitabh is not the only Indian celebrity to lend the Indian touch at the London Olympics. Indian music maestro A R Rahman is also there with Danny Boyle compose a track for the inaugural event.
The 69-year-old superstar has acted in more than 180 films, wearing a white track suit, sporadically walking while running and waving to the cheering crowd.
Amitabh Bachchan posted on his micro-blogging site twitter, “”I have been invited by the London Olympic Organizing Committee to carry the torch in the relay. I am honored to be asked to carry the Olympic Torch, a proud moment for me and my country!” he also added that it is a moment to be hopefully remembered by the grandchildren.
It’s an incredible honor, humbling and full of pride and emotion, a moment that fills me with all that reflects the spirit of the Games and to all people and communities of the world, to come and compete in their respective skills in an atmosphere free from discrimination.
