A dreamy Maharashtrian-Brahmin girl, Meenakshi, with an extra sensitive sense of smell is in search of love, who enjoys the occasional dream song and dance sequence. Hilarity ensues as she has to juggle between her reality,

Meenakshi’s father smokes like a chimney, an overly controlling her mother, a brother who has a litter of stray dogs at home. A blind grandmother on a motorized wheelchair zipping her way in and out people’s spaces and conversations, she has saved gold for Meenakshi’s wedding.

After getting attracted to the fragrance of a mysterious, Meenakshi self-indulged artist, she daydreams about him, while the popular belief is that he is not a nice guy. Despite this she stalks him and spies on him, only to discover that he is from a Tamil background, raised in Pune, and works in an incent factory, the mysterious smell that she has been attracted towards in the first place. In the meanwhile, she has been promised to prince charming by her family. Complications arise, as she has to decide between an ideal husband and possibly true love.

The film has a very native Marathi flavour to it that Kundalkar really wanted to bring into Hindi cinema. From the clothes to the dialect, everything has been given a great deal of attention. Rani Mukherji returns to screen after No One Killed Jessica in a role that many are touting to be her comeback role.
