Filmmaker Rajiv Rai has expressed his anger toward Dharma Productions for allegedly using the iconic song “Saat Samundar” without permission. The song appeared in the teaser for their upcoming film “Tu Meri Main Tera.”
Rai, who directed the 1989 hit film “Vishwatma,” owns the rights to “Saat Samundar.” The song originally featured Divya Bharti and became extremely popular. Rai claims that Dharma Productions used the music in their teaser without seeking proper authorization from him.
The filmmaker has warned that he may take legal action if the matter is not resolved. He believes his intellectual property rights have been violated. Rai stated that creators must respect copyright laws and obtain necessary permissions before using someone else’s work.
Dharma Productions has not yet responded publicly to these allegations. The production house, known for making big-budget Bollywood films, is preparing to release “Tu Meri Main Tera” soon.
This controversy highlights ongoing issues in the Indian film industry regarding music rights and proper licensing. Many classic songs are being recreated or sampled in new films, sometimes leading to disputes between original creators and production companies.
The situation remains unresolved as both parties consider their next steps.
