Omg Aamir Khan’s Laapataa Ladies is out of Oscars race. Recently Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences releases shortlist of 15 films for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Oscars on Tuesday.
Well earlier this year decision of sending Laapataa Ladies as India’s official entry had sparked controversy after many argued that Payal Kapadia’s Cannes-winning All We Imagine As Light was a stronger contender.
Number of social media user got disheartened after news of Laapataa Ladies getting out of OSCARS came forward one user wrote “FFI snubbed AWIAL, destroying our chances to be on the list. The Film Federation of India requires a full revamp.” Another user wrote , “A shattering humiliation for India. If the only measure of success is to make choices that make you competitive, they have utterly failed.”
Well it’s not clear what lead Laapataa Ladies to not get shortlisted for Oscars as it has already won Grand Prize at Cannes and on the other hand Laapataa Ladies was nominated for the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards.
Laapataa Ladies almost sarcast of newcomers Sparsh Srivastava, Pratibha Ranta, and Nitanshi Goel alongside seasoned actors Ravi Kishen and Chhaya Kadam.
Reaction of Aamir Khan is still awaited as what went wrong that Laapataa Ladies failed to enter Oscars shortlist.
