Mithun Chakraborty honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime achievement

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty will be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his immense contribution to Indian cinema. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest recognition in the field of film, named after the father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke. It is presented annually by the Government of India to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Indian films.

Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement on social media and wrote, “Mithun Da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. 🗓️To be presented at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on Oct 8, 2024.”

Mithun Chakraborty, known as the “Disco King” of Bollywood, has entertained audiences for decades with his versatile acting. His journey began with the film Mrigayaa in 1976, for which he won the National Film Award for Best Actor.
