Salman Khan played HIV patient in Phir Milenge, doing it for free

The producer of Phir Milenge, Shailendra Singh, recently revealed that Salman Khan agreed to play the role of an HIV-positive patient when most of Bollywood refused the role. This decision came at a time when the subject of HIV/AIDS was rarely discussed in Indian cinema. Salman took on this challenging part and surprised everyone by doing it for free.

Released in 2004, Phir Milenge was directed by Revathi and dealt with the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS in India. The film starred Shilpa Shetty and Abhishek Bachchan in leading roles, with Salman playing a pivotal part. His portrayal of an HIV-positive character helped raise awareness about the illness and broke taboos in the industry.

Shailendra explained that Salman’s commitment to the film went beyond money. He believed in the story’s message and wanted to contribute to the cause. This gesture was highly appreciated by both the cast and crew, and it showed Salman’s dedication to socially relevant projects.

Phir Milenge remains one of the important films addressing HIV/AIDS, and Salman Khan’s contribution played a key role in its success.
