Not Sharad Kelkar but Shahid Kapoor to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a period drama

Sharad Kelkar essayed the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Ajay Devgn lead Tanhaji, for which he was appreciated by viewers. Since that time many of the filmmakers are planning to make content on this character. This includes a multi-lingual pan-India film where Ritesh Deshmukh will be portraying the character. And another project of Ali Abbas Zafar where Salman Khan will essay the role of Shivaji. Well now we have the news that Kabir Singh’s producer Ashwin Varde is also joining the list and will be making a film on the historian that will be played by Shahid Kapoor.

As per a report, “Ashwin Varde has joined hands with Lyca Productions who are soon going to make their foray in Bollywood in a big way. They are discussing multiple co-production ventures with producers and one of them is a mammoth period saga based on the life and triumphs of Chhatrapati Shivaji.” The reports also mentioned that the filmmaker has approached the Kabir Singh star to start the film.
