There were two biggies that have been waiting to get a release since last year. One of them is Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and the other one is Ranveer Singh’s 83. Apart from being a co-producer of both these films, Reliance Entertainment is also handling their distribution. Although Akshay’s film will get a release on 2nd April i.e. Good Friday, but we still see clouds of uncertainty over Ranveer’s sports drama.
There were reports some days back stating that the release date of the sports drama is being pushed to maintain a healthy gap with Sooryavanshi and also to avoid any clashes with IPL matches. But now we have another update regarding the release date saying that the makers of 83 are eyeing to cash in on Cricket loving nations like UK and are therefore waiting to COVID situation get normal. Now the release date have been pushed to June as the situation might get better then.
“Since the 1983 Prudential Cup was held in England and Wales, the makers have been counting on a warm response from the Indian diaspora in the UK. Additionally, they were targeting a wide release across 80 to 100 countries where cricket is immensely popular. With the UK under lockdown and several countries reeling under the pandemic, the team has decided to push the film’s release to June, for the time being,” reveals a source.
