Rohit Shetty was to remake Angoor way before he made Chennai Express of Shah Rukh Khan. The duo was supposed to collaborate for this project too, but it went on a back burner. Now reportedly Ranveer Singh has taken the charge and will be portraying the double role of Sanjeev Kumar. And now, the Simmba actor will be joined by a brilliant actor, who is famous for his role in Fukrey.
Yes it is none other than Varun Sharma who will be playing the double role of Deven Sharma in the Angoor remake. It will be the second time that Varun will be collaborating with Rohit Shetty after Dilwale.
According to a source, Varun has surpassed Aparshakti Khurana and Rajkumar Rao for the role. The source said, “Rohit was on the lookout for someone who aces in the comic space and after a lot of discussion with his team, he zeroed in on Varun Sharma. The other probable choices for the role of Deven Verma’s double role were Rajkummar Rao and Aparshakti Khurrana, however, it was Varun who eventually bagged the role.”
“The film will go on the floors sometime in November and the entire team is all charged up to make an entertainer for the audience, in tough times like these,” the source added.
Talking about Ranveer Singh being cast in this flick by Rohit Shetty, a source told, “Rohit Shetty has been trying to make Angoor remake for a while now and it is finally happening now with Ranveer Singh stepping into Sanjeev Kumar’s shoes.”
