Aditi Rao Hydari speaks up on nepotism in Bollywood

Nepotism is one of the topics that have been a part of debates in Bollywood. The untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on 14th of June this year has sparked  this topic  yet again along with a heated debate about “insiders and outsiders”. Actress Aditi Rao Hydari has some good things to speak on Bollywood. She feels that Bollywood has a beautiful side, too, and is an inclusive space.

When questioned that how does she keep herself positive when surrounded with so much toxicity in Bollywood and social media, she answered, “Just by believing that one day it will sort (out), also by knowing that we can do something about it. No industry is devoid of flaws. We are also human beings, we make mistakes, we have our flaws, we oversee certain things but there is a beautiful side to our industry too.” Sheexplained: “We all stick together, we are loyal, we stand together. Whatever people might say we really stand together. People have our backs.”

On the insider vs outsider debate she had a very different perspective. She said that although many consider her an outsider, but doesn’t like to believe that she is an outsider. She said, “People talk of outsider-insider. I can say there are so many people who I can call if I have a problem. They will help me even though I am considered an outsider. But I don’t like to consider myself an outsider. I feel that the industry is an inclusive space”. Adding to this she said, “Yes, it can be hard and tough for some time for some of us who don’t have family within the industry, but isn’t that so in any industry? So, why do we single out the film industry? I feel it’s up to us if there are certain things that need to be looked into, we need to pay attention, need to change that and stand together.”

On the work front, we saw Aditi in the digitally released Telugu film “V”, which also featured Nani and Sudheer Babu.
