Bollywood Actress Shridevi was born to Ayyupan and Rajeswari on 13th August 1963 in Meenampatti village situated near Sivakasi, District Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. And her father was a practicing lawyer. She has one sister and two step brother. She got married with Boney Kapoor in 1996 who is well-known bollywood film producer and brother of bollywood super star Anil kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, from this very wed-lock they have two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi.
Shridevi made her first bollywood debut as a child artist in 1975 in movie Julie on the other hand she played her first ever adult role at the age of 13 in Moodru Mudichu in 1976. And quickly she established herself as one of the most successful and leading actress of the South India. She achieved her first success in bollywood with movies Sadma(1983)Tohfa, Mawaali, Justice Chaudary and in these she acted with Jeetendra. However her dancing star image changed to actress when she did a marvelous performance in movie Sadma and for this movie she got nominated in Filmfare and national award. while same year she acted in movie Himmatala in this movie she acted with Jeetendra and this movie did a good business at box office from here onward she established and became successful actress and there onwards she got success in movies such as Nagina (1986) this movie became biggest hit of the year and made her top actress in bollywood , Than she was seen in Shekhar Kapur’s Mr India (1987) in this movie she did a wonderful performance on dance number Hawa Hawai and this song became most memorable and favorable song of the year and from this movie she gained popularity , Chandni (1989), Chaalbaaz(1989), Lamhe(1991), In movie Khuda Gawah (1992) she displayed a great chemistry with bollywood superstar Amitabh bachchan and her role in this movie was appreciated by audience though this movie did a moderate business at box office, she also acted in Gumrah(1993), and Judaai(1997)
In 1993 Shridevi acted in Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja and this movie did average business at the box office. Same year she acted in Mahesh Bhatt’s Gumrah in this movie she played a character of girl who falsely became accused of drug smuggling in Hong Kong in this movie she did a memorable acting. In 1994 she did movie Laadla though this movie did moderate business at box-office but anyhow her role led her to seventh Filmfare Best Actress Award nomination. Before leaving film industry she acted in last major movie Judaai In 1997 this movie was directed by late Raj Kanwar, in this movie she played a role of housewife Shridevi played the role of an Indian housewife, who seems infatuation with money and wealth therefore this habit leads her to sell her husband (Anil Kapoor) to another woman who is in love with him (Urmila Matondkaar) this movie did good business at box-office and for this movie she got eighth Filmfare Best Actress Award nomination. During the same period she started acting in Telugu Movies directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. In Telugu movies she acted with N.T. Rama Rao, A Nageswara Rao, and she acted in about thirty movies with Chiranjeevi. And she also acted with Nagarjuna.
In 2004 after a gape of six year shridevi again made her debut but this time she made it from small screen in the Sahara sitcom Mlini Iyer. She also appeared on talk show named Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai. In 2005 she appeared as a Judge on TV show Kaboom. In 2009 she made her appearance on Sony TV show 10 Ka Dum which was hosted by bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
During brake from movies Shridevi developed a passion for painting and she had made number of painting, therefore her paintings brought her foreign attention. Her paintings were selected for international art auction house in March 2010, money collected from auction was given for donation.
In the year 2012 Shridevi acted in movie English Vinglish, therefore she became the only actress who had made successful comeback as leading lady after a long period of break and marriage. And this movie did a good business at the box-office.
On 2013 Shridevi received Padma Shri One of India’s highest civilian award for the Government of India Kerala State Film Award. During her long journey of acting she had received number of awards.
