Indian actor Suraj Sharma who received lots of applause for the lead role in ‘Life of Pi’ has lost the chance to win BAFTA to British actress Juno Temple. Juno of ‘The Atonement’ was more popular than Suraj and she walked away with the EE Rising Star Award at the BAFTA. The British Academy Film Awards held here.
‘Life of Pi’ is based on Canadian author Yann Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel. It also featured Bollywood actors Irrfan and Tabu.
Delhi-based Suraj Sharma, 19, was the only male actor nominated in the category and the other nominees included Andrea Riseborough, Elizabeth Olsen, Swedish actress Alicia Vikander and Juno.
Suraj made headlines when Oscar winner director Ang Lee picked him from 3000 others to play the lead role in ‘Life of Pi’.
Suraj Sharma looked handsome as he walked the red carpet of BAFTA in a black suit. Suraj is unfortunate as he loses the shining star award to Juno Temple but he has got one reason to rejoice as the ‘Life of Pi’ won two awards at BAFTA, best cinematography and best special visual effects.
