Singer Sukhwinder Singh clarifies Ram Gopal Varma’s claim that Popular song Jai Ho was composed by Sukhwinder.
Sukhwinder Singh said oscar winning composition Jai Ho from blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire was composed by AR Rahman not by him he only sang.
Recently filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma created confusion in an interview when he clammed Sukhwinder Singh composed the Oscar-winning song ‘Jai Ho’ from Slumdog Millionaire, not AR Rahman. Later Sukhwinder came forward and refuted the filmmaker’s claims and credited Rahman for the song’s music in an interview with Hindustan Times. He acknowledged singing the iconic track but credited Rahman’s role as the composer.
While clarifying Ram Gopal Varma’s claims singer said “AR Rahman has composed the song, I have only sung it. Ram Gopal Varma ji koi chhoti hasti toh nahin hain, shayad unhe kuchh galat pata chala hoga,”
Further opening about making of song Jai Ho Sukhwinder said Gulzar wrote the song, which AR Rahman liked and subsequently composed in Sukhwinder’s studio. On the Other hand Rahman sir also shared the song to director Subhash Ghai for his film Yuvvraaj, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. However, Ghai felt the song wasn’t a good fit for his vision.
